My Nokia C2-00 Starts To Malfunction, Dual Sim Android Smartphones Beckons

Much to my chagrin, I might be shopping for another cellphone or smartphone unit in the next week or so.

My Nokia C2-00 spectacularly manifested some malfunctions at the very inopportune time possible. Tsk! Tsk! Tsk!

There's a bad omen that my wallet hopes will not be fulfilled. Just four months and a little over forty times of falling on the floor, the nokia c2-00 appears ready to be inducted to my previous cellphone's cabinet of retirement.

I was trying to make an important call, related to my day job, and my cellphone just hanged. Holy crap! My ass was on the line as my superior urgently needs an update. I almost threw it out of exasperation.

Fortunately (or not), after a long press at the power button, the default screen came to view and menu icons functioned as before. I was able to make a call. But I dread that this latest cellphone unit has seen its best of times.

And like what I wrote in that joyful post when I purchased this nokia cellphone unit, my shift towards android smartphones begin by googling the most afforable dual sim android smartphone as a replacement.

Finding My Old Smart SIM Card For My Upcoming Nokia C2-00

I'm so hopeful of owning a Nokia C2-00 dual sim phone next month. Together with my Globe sim, I intend to use a Smart SIM on the other slot. It is easy to get a new Smart sim these days but I thought my old Smart sim would do just fine.

That is, if I find it and if my old Smart sim is still active.

I stopped using my old Smart sim when my cherry mobile C55 cellphone gave up on me early this year and forgot about it until today. Fortunately, I was able to find my C55 among my clutter and the Smart sim inside it.

I can't remember when I last loaded it. So, you can imagine my great relief to see the Smart Gold logo when I inserted it to my current cellphone - Nokia 1110.

I feel that my old Smart sim will help me be contacted by long lost friends/colleagues and former prepaid loading associates.

When I finally use that Nokia C2-00, I feel that I'm giving my friends more ways to reach me using cellphones promos they find cheaper from either Globe and Smart.

A dual sim phone is greatly advantageous for my loading business as I also offer pasaload (for Smart) subscribers and share-a-load for (Globe subscribers). Using both Smart and Globe also help this blog as I can share first-hand experience using both.

There are other advantages in using a dual sim phone as enumerated by Nokia. And today, cellphone users have a lot of choices for dual sim brands. I just really like Nokia because all my Nokia phones lasted long enough. And I expect the Nokia C2-00 to be also that durable.

My Globe and Smart sim cards are eagerly waiting their next home, the Nokia C2-00 Dual SIM phone.

Nokia C2-00 Dual Sim Phone - My Highs & Lows

In a matter of 2 days, I've felt high and low about a cellphone model I strongly liked and wanted, the Nokia C2-00 dual sim phone.

When yugatech wondered yesterday, if the Nokia C2-00 phone will ever be released in the Philippines, I've sense that my chances of having one has become more grim.

But the Nokia Blog, buoyed my spirits today. One of those Nokia phone models could still find its way to my hands.

I first learned about the Nokia C2-00 dual sim phone model from yugatech around June last year. About that time, my dual sim phone Cherry Mobile C55, was starting to show some wear and tear, just 3 months since I bought it. And with the service center so out of my usual route, I forego availing the service warranty. I thought why bother, I'm going to buy a new dual sim phone, anyway - assuming that the Nokia C2-00 will be released in September 2010. I can even wait till December.

Yesterday, yugatech wondered why the Nokia unit is taking so long to be released here, too. And with that, I have started to accept that Nokia wouldn't release the cellphone unit here. Perhaps Nokia saw that the market for dual sim phones are already saturated by MyPhone, Cherry Mobile, Torque, Firefly and a lot of other makers from China.

But a post from the Nokia blog made my day today and gave me some hope of owning a Nokia C2-00.
The Nokia X1-01 and Nokia C2-00 will ship this quarter in India, China, South-East Asia/Pacific region, Middle East and Africa, Eurasia and Brazil. Before local taxes or subsidies, the X1-01 will cost €34 while the C2-00 will cost €45.

I am greatly hoping that the Philippines will be included in the shipment for South-East Asia/Pacific region. I hope that I could get my hands on this silver Nokia C2-00 soon.

The Nokia C2-00 offers a number of additional features. The main one is the way the SIM cards are arranged, offering Easy Swap, a feature that’s only on offer from Nokia. One SIM card is stored internally, like a traditional phone. The second card is easily accessible through a slot in the side – so you don’t have to open or even switch the phone off to change SIMs.

... the Nokia C2-00 runs Series 40, which offers some key advantages in the form of internet access, a web browser and Nokia Messaging for email. The Nokia C2-00 also sports a VGA camera and allows for MMS messaging. There’s support for up to 32GB of storage using an SD card, allowing users to carry thousands of photos, videos and music files.

I've got to start saving around 5,000 php for this Nokia cellphone. But even without cash, I still have my BPI credit card to get me one of those Nokia C2-00 dual sim phones.

Cherry Mobile C55 - My New Cellphone in Prepaid

Cherry Mobile C55 is now my new prepaid cellphone unit.

Hopefully, my Cherry Mobile C55 can surpass the length of service with my previous cellphone - a Nokia 1110 - which served me well for four long years.

But hands down, my newest cellphone trumps the previous one by a mile in terms of features and funtionality.

FEATURES:
  • Touch Screen 2.4" TFT display
  • 1.3 Megapixel Camera
  • Dual Sim/Dual Standby
  • Dual Band 900/1800 MHz
  • GPRS / MMS
  • Multimedia Player
  • Blue Tooth
  • Micro SD Card up to 6 GB
  • FM Radio
  • Widgets
  • Folding / Clam Type

Cherry Mobile is the newest cellphone handsets maker in the Philippine mobile market. Its main selling point is its Dual SIM capability. Of course, it also have the usual features common with the mobile phone units today.

Two-months ago, I blogged about wanting a new cellphone. I finally decided to buy one so that I can leave my old cellphone in our house for communications.

What I wanted mainly was a dual sim phone. Among the choices were Myphone, Torque and Cherry Mobile. While surfing the net, I got interested with the clam type or folding unit because it reminded me of my phone while staying in Japan.

I was able to to purchase the unit for Php 3590 under zero interest for three months at the Cherry Mobile Festival in SM Megamall Cyberzone. Added bonus was an extra battery and free speakers.

Being used to Nokia phones, it took a week before I became comfortable creating and sending messages. Courtesy of officemate Sab, I got a free 4 GB microSD. So far I have enjoyed the dual SIM capability, FM radio and bluetooth connectivity the most. I'm still exploring its image capturing and video recording features.

Unfortunately, my Cherry Mobile C55 isn't ideal to my prepaid loading business. The template in its SMS feature has limited characters for LoadXtreme command syntax. Also, it has no insert number feature. That's why I barely dispense prepaid load via this cellphone. Hopefully, I get the hang of my new cellphone entirely soon.

On a daily SMS & call basis, I believe my Cherry Mobile C55 was a good buy.

Wanted: New Mobile phone, Dual Sim

I have been wanting to upgrade my Nokia 1112 for sometime now, setting my sights to, preferably, a new dual sim mobile phone.

My old phone has served me in good stead for the last 3 years for which I'm thankful.

I just think that a dual sim mobile phone would mean additional savings on my prepaid loading expenses. Having a new dual sim mobile phone, would allow me to take advantage of unlimited texting services of at least two mobile provider networks.

New Dual Sim Mobile PhoneThe idea of going post-paid even entered my mind. I thought of going for Sun Cellulars plan 350 that gives out free new dual sim mobile phones. Unfortunately, I have not found the time to inquire about it. Also, my projected, end-of-year bonuses did not materialized.

Of course, I am also wishing that my new phone would have features that have become common nowadays, like a camera, a radio, and media player of sorts.

Just this morning, I saw an ad from Inqurer about a new MyPhone's B21 Duo for only 2, 990 Php. All the features I stated above is in this dual sim mobile phone.

If only I can have 3000 pesos this week. ;)
