I am on the look out for a new smartphone this past two days and even checked out mobile phone units via postpaid subscription.
First, my Polaroid tablet fell down hard and its LCD screen broked. Then my Nokia 501 unit suddenly stopped working ("hung") that I need to remove the battery just so I could use it again. My disenchantment with my current phone is growing by the day.
Then, I read that Google has launched ANDROID ONE smartphones in India. Can the release here in the Philippines be any sooner?

Android One is Google's initiative to make high-quality smartphones affordable to all. Online access via smartphones is now common. Google's strategy is simple. The more smartphones in the hands of more people can get online, more chance for Google to make business.
Google has a select group to manufacture the Android One. All these manufactures will provide key features such as:
And as initial reports about the Android One says, it will all be less than 5,000 pesos.
I can't wait for the Android Ones to reach the Philippine shores. With many manufacturers, I'm sure that price of these units will be quite affordable.
When it comes here, I will no longer need to have two gadgets. I hope that it reallys comes sooner.

To provide communications as relief to communities affected by Typhoon Mario, Smart and Sun Cellular have set up Libreng Tawag Centers for evacuated residents in Tonsuya Elementary School, Malabon City and in Sto. Domingo Church, Quezon City. Updates will be available as soon as other Libreng Tawag Centers are set up.
Smart and Sun has also joined Tulong Kapatid Foundation and PLDT-Smart Foundation for relief efforts. We encourage everyone to keep monitoring the weather and flood situation.

Too bad I can't get additional information from Smart's website. The link from the said tweet leads to a page that promotes a young showbiz loveteam.

It didn't also say if the unlimited twitter can be done via the social media app or if you may need to use your browser.
Sorry to sound obsessive, but Smart ought to COMPLETELY inform its prepaid subscribers.
I have been meaning to post this topic on this blog for quite sometime now. As a Sun Cellular Prepaid subscriber myself, I intend the post to serve as my reference if I need to transfer load to fellow Sun Cellular subscriber.
I'm glad I followed Sun Cellular's FB page.
It had a recent post on how to transfer Sun Prepaid Load SAFELY.
Yesterday afternoon, I was introduced to the Insufficient Balance notification via Smart Bro Dashboard on my Google Chrome Browser.
I was consuming the data minutes accumulated every time I loaded my Smart Bro. I left my laptop to do some other things. When I came back and opened new tabs, I was directed to the webpage that displays Smart Bro Dashboard.

As shown in the image, the dashboard is still in Beta Testing phase. It displays your mobile number and a message:

Even though your internet connection icon shows that you are still connected, and the Smart Bro interface showing download and upload speeds, you will not be able to browse any website.
Well you just have to re-load your Smart Bro Load again to enjoy surfing the net.

In retrospect, I should have never gave way to impulse buying my 7 inch Polaroid Platinum Tablet. Too Late for buyer's remorse. My tablet fell on the floor and the LCD screen cracked.
I was talked into getting one by an able sales rep. All the things that I wanted for a tablet was enumerated, coupled with the affordable price which can be conveniently paid in three-month terms without interest.
Tsk! Tsk! Tsk! Now, I'm ruing that fact and wondering if I will still be able use this. :(
