Text Scam Continues - Philippine Charity Foundation Text Scam
I thought this Text Scam had already been exposed. But I guess not enough.
Yesterday, I received the following text/sms. I typed the message as is from my inbox.
I hope you won't fall for it and be the next victim.
(Congrats)! ur Simcard# won php780,000.2nd prize winner draw last night.to claim ur Prize call now!I'M Atty. WENDIL C, PENEDA,/from.D'auditor of phil's charity Foundation)Per Dti#5247#Ser of 2010,

This is a long running text scam. Do not waste your time calling. Never claim a prize for a raffle/contest you didn't voluntarily enter into. Most likely, you will be asked to purchase a number of phone cards and to send the pin codes before you can claim your prize. Remember, if there is some kind of payment to claim your winnings, it's 99% scam.
This Philippine Charity Foundation Text Scam have been all over the internet now. As far as I remember, I already received this kind of message four times. There are variations but basically the same. But the fact that I again received this kind of text scam means there are still unlawful people out there ready to victimize cellphone users.
Do not fall for this kind of scam via text/sms. First of all, you are unlikely to win if you do not enter into any raffle. Secondly, if only a number shows up in your inbox, it is more likely sent by a strangers. Beware of strangers promising prizes.

Sometimes, I had those gadget for spam texting so that I can flood the inbox of the one sending spam text such as these.
Received today similar message:

I have been receiving a barrage of scam texts today (3:03PM/ May 10, 2011) the text goes this way:
D' Auditors of the Phil. charity Foundation inform u that ur Cp# won P850,000 2nd prize winner drw Last 09 May 2011 DTI#4627 Pls call me now Im ATTY. GERGE G. ROBLES!

I received this kind of message this morning, and I replied, "Talaga po? Pano po iclaim ung prize?"
Then he replied, you need to buy a prepaid card and send the codes of it, Then I replied - "###########" sir pls. scratch nalang. haha

i am a post paid user and this morning there was a text message that i have received same as usual. i wonder how they got my no. i thought globe has no right to give out my no. since its against the privacy policy that they have imposed. bad bad bad.
i am a victim of PCF right now..
they text me that i won a 2nd prize (560,000) and i texted them that how can i assure that this is true?? instead of reply me through text they call me.. He said he is Atty. Antonio A. Valdirama.. they ask me to buy 2 smart prepaid cards then i texted it to them.. after i text it they call me again and ask again 3 more prepaid cards,,..
oh my god.. its okay.. I will let God to punish them..

i received the same message to from FRANCIS D. LARRAZABAL, PCF INCHARGE and his number 09158829376...I won P850,000,000. Tsk....so sad that there still that kind of people out there.....

i can't believe i fell for this scam. i never knew it was a scam. Madali ksi tayong masilaw sa pera dahil na rin sa hirap ng buhay. Very convincing kasi ng tumawag cla sa akin. Ginamit pa nila ang tungkol sa hirap ng buhay and finally na makakaahon ka na. Thy're using psychology to lure victims.Unfortunately, I'm one of the victims. Sasabihin nila na you must not tell anybody kasi baka pagtangkaan ka ng masama pag nalaman nila na malaki ang napanalunan mo.Like my experience. sinabi nila na kelangan ko bumili ng 300 pesos worth na smartbuddy calling card. humingi sila ng 2,500 and i told him kulang ang pera q.Tinanong niya kung ilan pera ko and to be honest with it. The fool i am told him i only had 1000 pesos.He said it was alright and that they're gonna help me so i sent them 1000 pesos through smart money padala. Hours passed then tumawag ulit ung parang matanda ang voice and said na hindi pala pwedeng tumulong sila so kelangan ko raw buuin ung remaining 1,500 and text them. The following day, i decided na hindi na lang i claim ung price q and asked if i could retrieve my 1000 pesos. They said hindi na pwede explaining things that i couldn't understand. I said na hindi na talaga pwede kc wala na aqng pera. Then i thought of researching about this charity and this is how i found out na it is a scam..gosh, i wanted to cry and i really cant believe how gullible i am.He called again to ask about the money. I told him na hindi ko talaga kayang ipunin yung 1,500.He said again na he could help na bayaran ung 1,500. Basta bumili na lng daw ulit ako ng smart buddy calling card. Sabi ko na kahit hindi ko na kunin yung price and that it was okay. He tried to persuade me na sayang daw. At mapupunta sa isang charity. i forgot the name. at ako daw ang hahanapin. sabi ko na okay lng. then he tried to convince me again. okay lang ako ng okay sa sinasabi niya. then i turned off my phone..I hope you learn from my mistake at sa katangahan ko. Kahit ano pang pagconvince gawin nila, dont rush into decisions.kahit na sabihin nilang ngayon na. if possible i research muna. I just hope and pray na matigil na to at mahuli ang mga nasa likod nito.

It sure is another time consuming work on our part but seeing that there is no other way as of the moment, we might as well give it a try.
We are one in the hope that text scams and spams be lessened in the near future.
